Vince: Hey Paul E. I know your contract is about to expire, and I know that Dixie Chick wants you more than a 2-hour time slot. So I’ll tell you what… Paul E… As much as I despise you. I fear you even more. And I’m sure if I were not to re-sign you, you would go to TNA with your passion rejuvenated and your creative booking schemes ah brewing and lead TNA into the promise land.
But I mean think
about it Paul E., Their calling themselves “the new
wrestling alternative”. And if my memory serves me
correctly your brainchild ECW was the original wrestling
alternative. But without the proper “resources” ECW
became extinct when it tried to compete on a national
level. Because all I did was adapt to what you guys were
doing over there in that bingo hall. And thus became
part my empire
Paul E., my friend.
the key to survival is adaptation. And what better way
to adapt to the current landscape of pro wrestling than
bring back E-C-W!!!
What I’m offering you
Paul is this…what I “let you” bring back ECW to compete
with this revolution that is Total Nonstop Action
Wrestling??
We can repackage ECW
and make it a TNA replacement product!
We can even have our
own Samoan Submission Machine=The Samoan Smashing
Machine?
Paul E. Heyman: Sounds
like your sweating the competition. Huh Vince??
Vince: NO! NO! Apples
and oranges. We are Sports Entertainment. They’re Pro
Wrestling.
Paul E. Heyman:
Whatever. Let’s just say I agree. Will I have absolute
full creative control over ECW?
Vince: (with fingers
and toes crossed) Of course! I assure you that you will
have total control….
I think it's obvious
that VKM decided to re-launch ecw to compete with TNA
and to capitalize on it's nostalgia in an attempt to
appeal to the hardcore fan. And when I say hardcore I
don't mean tables and chairs etc. I mean the hardcore,
die-hard wrestling fan that makes up the majority of a
TNA/ROH/Japanese promotions fan base.
Because I love
wrestling. I feel I should be happy for the re-launching
of ECW. But because I love >TNA< this kind of sux. Will
I watch?? If they were to produce a CM Punk vs. Chris
Hero feud possibly? Now I’m not saying they signed hero.
But it's being reported that ecw will be looking to sign
some of the current top Indy stars. The same kind of
stars that TNA are trying to turn into superstars. i.e.;
Styles, Daniels, Joe etc.
People forget that ecw
wasn’t just about hardcore matches. They put out some
classic and what we refer to now as X division type
matches.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that this re-launching of
ECW is just another example of VKM adapting to the current
landscape of the wrestling industry... ie; more pro
wrestling less sports entertainment.Devsbsn |
