Main Event: King of the Mountain Match.
Christian Cage has stated that he will be the first NWA
World Champion to successfully defend the title at the
King of the Mountain Match.
Probable combatants: The Monster Abyss, Ron "The Truth"
Killings, Jeff Jarrett and Sting.
Let's take a closet look the wrestlers...
Abyss
Coming off the heels of a feud with the current NWA
World Champ Christian Cage. Under the guidance of his
mentor "Father" James Mitchell, Abyss has wreaked havoc
on Cage! Unleashing "Doomsday" on the champ.. but
eventually losing opportunities to win the title.
Ron "The Truth" Killings
the former 2 time NWA/TNA World Champ. "The Sun Tan
Superman" has a renewed taste for the Gold. After
becoming the first African American to hold the
prestigious NWA World Heavyweight title. The first of
which came by defeating "The World's Most Dangererous
Man" Ken Shamrock.
Killings would later find himself lost in the shuffle
and became a mid card comedy act, when he was aligned
with Konnan and BG "Road Dogg" James. To form one of the
most over stables in TNA history the 3 Live Krew. But
after the recent break up with the Krew.. Killings
appears to be re dedicated himself to regaining the NWA
Title.
Jeff Jarrett
Using his cunning and crafty veteran experience
combined with his cagey, technical skills. Double J has
been able to dominate TNA. Earning himself the moniker
King of the Mountain..
After Christian Cage ended his looooong lasting reign as
World Champ (much to the delight of TNA fans
everywhere.) Jarrett has been busy feuding with Sting.
Who was brought to TNA as "the new face" and savior of
the company. Much to the degree to Mr. SlapNutz himself.
Now on June 18th Jarrett finds himself in the all too
familiar situation.... A chance to win the World title.
In the very match that he claims to be his very own, the
King of the Mountain match.
Sting
He has declared that his one true reason he came to TNA
was to rid TNA wrestling of it's terminal cancer that is
Jeff Jarrett. Claiming that as long as Jeff Jarrett
remains in TNA, the entire TNA roster will continued to
be held back and would eventually lead to the demise of
the promotion!!
One has to ponder the question. Will Sting's mission
to send the self proclaimed King of the Mountain into
exile come between him and his chances to become the NWA
World Heavyweight Champion?
"Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner vs. "The Samoan
Submission Machine" Samoa Joe
The origin of this feud can be traced back to last
months ppv "Sacrifice"..Sting/Joe vs. Jarrett/Stiener
match up.
I can remember their first standoff in the ring as they
were both tagged and squared off for the first time.
Steiner quickly began trash talking and an
un-intimidated Samoa Joe just as quickly pie faced
Steiner and it was on like donkey kong.
That match proved two things..(1) Steiner can still go.
and (2) Joe can go with the heavyweights in a high
profile match.
Coming off a knee injury. How will it affect Joe's
performance?
Will Joe be able to get Steiner in the Muscle Buster??
One things for sure. I can't imagine Samoa Joe tapping
out to lame ass "Steiner Recliner"...
Steiner use to be a human suplex factory. But now he has
limited his arsenal to about 1 or 2 variations.
So with Samoa Joe currently being pushed to the moon and
this being his first one on one heavyweight debut.. I
don't see him losing this one. But something tells me
than there will be some sort of questionable booking
that allow this match to end with a clean finish.
